COLUMBUS – Police have named no suspects in one fatal shooting in Columbus late Monday but have made an arrest in another and have named a suspect in a murder committed last month.
Police officers called to the area of 2301 S. Hamilton Road on a report of a body lying in the parking lot of the businesses at 11:39 p.m. found Abraham Isaac Cundiff, 40, suffering from a gunshot wound, according to Sgt. Jeff Strayer of the Homicide Unit.
Columbus paramedics pronounced Cundiff dead at the scene.
There was no known motive or suspect early Wednesday, Strayer said.
A 45-year-old man is behind bars, charged with murder in the shooting death of another man inside a Hilltop home.
Strayer says Delaires Hughes shot Christopher Goff, 40, during an argument in a home on Warren Avenue just before 11:30 p.m. and Goff died about an hour later at Grant Medical Center.
Hughes was arrested at the scene, Strayer said.
Cundiff and Goff were the 72nd and 73rd homicide victims of the year in Columbus, Strayer said.
Meanwhile, an arrest warrant has been issued in the death of a man found shot to death outside a West Side apartment building last month.
Police have charged Lonzo Al Doughty with murder in the death of Julian Higgins, found beside a trash dumpster at an apartment complex in the 600 block of Wedgewood Drive, Strayer said.
The whereabouts of Doughty, 40, are unknown and Strayer says he should be considered armed and dangerous.
Anyone with information regarding these incidents is asked to call the Columbus Police Homicide Unit at 614-645-4730 or Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at 614-461-TIPS.
