COLUMBUS – Columbus police have arrested a suspect in the death of a man during a shootout outside a Southeast Side bank earlier this month.
UPDATE 11/11/21: Deonte Logan, 28, was arrested by Columbus SWAT officers on a murder charge in connection with this incident and taken to the Franklin County Jail on Nov. 10.
Deone Logan II, Demonte Rayford and Shannon Knighten were in the parking lot of the U.S. Bank at 6100 Channingway Boulevard just after 12:30 a.m. on Aug. 10 when there was an exchange of gunfire, according to Sgt. David Shimberg of the Homicide Unit.
Rayford, 20, was taken by car to Mount Carmel East where he was pronounced dead at 2:05 a.m.
Logan, 28, was arrested in Akron Thursday night on a charge of murder, Shimberg said.
Rayford was the 84th murder victim of the year in Columbus.
