COLUMBUS – The Franklin County Coroner’s Office is investigating the death of a murder suspect, though Columbus police say it does not appear that Alan Jones’s death is “criminal in nature.”
The 52-year-old Jones was a suspect in the death of Charles Oliver last month, according to Sgt. James Marable of the Columbus police Homicide Unit.
Oliver was found in an alley in the 1400 block of Oak Street on Sept. 25 after neighbors reported hearing a gunshot and seeing a victim lying in the alley, Marable said.
He was pronounced dead at the scene and Marable says Jones was responsible for Oliver’s death.
Jones was found dead on Sept. 29, Marable said.
