Murder suspect sought in southern Ohio

WAVERLY — Residents of southern Ohio are cautious as a Piketon man sought in connection with a murder remains at large.

UPDATE 12/13/19 7:26 A.M.: Jon-Eric Burggraf was apprehended Thursday in Ross County.

The Ohio Attorney General’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation is seeking tips from the public to help locate Jon-Eric Burggraf (above left) in connection to the death of 39-year-old Charles Meadows Jr., whose body was found in Pike County on Monday, according to a release from the BCI.

Burggraf, 32, has an active felony warrant for possessing a weapon under disability and is considered armed and dangerous.

According to local media reports, he was reportedly seen running from the scene of the deadly shooting on Johnson Road carrying a black duffel bag.

Authorities describe Burggraf as 5 feet, 9 inches tall, weighing 175 pounds with red hair and green eyes.

Anyone who sees Burggraf is encouraged to call 911 immediately. Additional information regarding his whereabouts can be reported to the Pike County Sheriff’s Office at 740-947-2111 or to BCI at 855-BCI-OHIO.

Along with the BCI and the Pike County Sheriff’s Office, the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the U.S. Marshals Service and the Department of Homeland Security are taking part in the investigation.
