COLUMBUS, Ohio – Police say a 34-year-old man wanted in the shooting death of a man whose body was found in a wooded area on the East Side in January surrendered to officers on Tuesday.
Demar Hope turned himself in at Columbus Police Headquarters just before 5:00 p.m. and was taken to the Franklin County Jail where he was held on a charge of murder, homicide unit detectives said .
Investigators had issued a warrant on Friday for Hope’s arrest in connection with the slaying of Lorenzo Mason, 27, police said. Mason’s body was found in the woods near the E. 5th Avenue bridge, east of I-670, on Jan. 14. Police said he had been shot multiple times in the upper body and was pronounced dead at the scene.
