Murder victim’s body found in pond at East Side park

COLUMBUS – Columbus police are searching for a homeless man they say killed another man, whose body was found in a pond at Wilson Road Park Wednesday morning.

An arrest warrant has been issued for John Ferry, who is charged with murder in the death of Robert Marsh III during a fight, according to Homicide Unit detectives.

Law enforcement officers were alerted by a citizen that a person was in the pond at 10:23 a.m. and officers responding to the scene found Marsh, 51, in the water, police said.

Marsh was pronounced dead at the scene, the 129th homicide victim of the year in Columbus.

Homicide detectives determined that Marsh was involved in an altercation with the 46-year-old Ferry, who is accused of causing injuries that resulted in Marsh’s death.

Ferry’s current whereabouts are unknown and police warn that the public should not approach him and should call police immediately.

The investigation is ongoing.
