Neighbors’ dispute leads to shooting

COLUMBUS – A long-simmering dispute between neighbors on the West Side erupted into deadly violence Wednesday afternoon.

Columbus police officers responding to a report of a shooting in the 3000 block of Westmoor Court at approximately 2:29 p.m. found Mario Dipenti suffering from at least one gunshot wound, Homicide Unit Sgt. Stanley Latta said.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Latta says investigators found out that Dipenti, 51, and Joshua Ferrell, 30, who lived at the address where Dipenti was found, had been arguing for several days and the dispute escalated into the shooting that left Dipenti dead.

Ferrell was arrested and charged with murder, Latta said.

This investigation continues.

This is the 36th homicide of 2018 in Columbus.
