COLUMBUS – When the Columbus Crew plays its first match in its new stadium, the team hopes the seats will be full.
The club will be able to open New Crew Stadium for the July 3 match against the New England Revolution (5:00 p.m./ESPN) at full capacity of 20,011 fans, Crew officials announced Thursday.
There will be post-match fireworks as part of the holiday weekend and no official mask or social distancing requirements, though fans who are not fully vaccinated are encouraged to continue to wear masks in public.
All premium club, suites and loge boxes at the Arena District stadium are sold out for the season but limited general seating season tickets are still available
Nine of the 13 matches at New Crew Stadium are weekend contests and include matches against Atlanta United, Seattle Sounders FC, Inter Miami CF, FC Cincinnati and Chicago Fire FC.
