Newark fire chief, wife injured in motorcycle crash

NEWARK – Police say a central Ohio fire chief and his wife have been injured after they hit a deer while riding their motorcycle Sunday night.

Newark Division of Fire and EMS Chief Patrick Connor and his wife were riding their motorcycle in the 10000 block of Eden Church Rd NE just before 7:30 p.m. when the accident happened, Newark police Sgt. Cliff Eskins said.

Connor was taken by helicopter to Ohio State University Hospital and his wife was taken to Licking Memorial Hospital, Eskins said.

He says it’s unclear how severe their injuries are.

The crash is under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
