NEWARK – Police in Newark say they are looking for two men in connection with a drive-by shooting in which a 61-year-old woman was hit by a stray bullet.
UPDATE 11/23/18 8:36 a.m.: James Alexander was arrested without incident on Nov. 20 in Columbus with the assistance of the Columbus Police SWAT. Devin Rhinehart turned himself ion Nov. 21. The case will be presented to the Licking County Prosecutor’s Office to review charges of felonious assault, having weapons while under disability, and improperly discharging firearm at
or into a habitation.
Devin Rhinehart, 23 years old, from Newark and James Alexander, 22 years old from Pataskala have been named as persons if interest in the shooting on Riverview Drive Saturday night, police division spokesman Sgt. Doug Wells said.
Both Rhinehart, 23 (left), and Alexander, 22 (right), are wanted on outstanding warrants issued by the Ohio Parole Authority and should be considered armed and dangerous, Wells said.
Newark Fire treated Jewel Scott at her home after the shooting at 8:28 p.m. on Saturday and she was flown to OSU Medical Center where Wells says she is listed in stable condition.
Investigators determined the shot that injured Scott came from outside her home and that Scott was hit by a stray bullet, Wells said.
After an investigation and canvass of the neighborhood, police named Rhinehart and Alexander as persons of interest.
