The 2019 LifeSports Spring Game, presented by Nationwide
Saturday, April 13; Ohio Stadium (Noon/BTN)
Tickets were still available late this week. General admission $5; children under 6 free in general admission areas;current OSU students free with valid OSU ID.
Gates open at 10 a.m. Parking in lots around the stadium is free.
The weather forecast calls for sunshine and warm temperatures for the annual intra-squad scrimmage that gives Buckeye fans an early look at how their favorite college football team might look when the games count, starting with the season opener Aug. 31 against Florida Atlantic.
All eyes will be on the battle for quarterback as Georgia transfer Justin Fields and freshman Matthew Baldwin compete to see who will replace the NFL-bound Dwayne Haskins.
Other newcomers who have been getting a lot of attention are wide receiver Garrett Wilson, from Texas, and Olentangy Orange defensive end Zach Harrison.
Ryan Day will be overseeing his first Spring Game as head coach after taking over for Urban Meyer earlier this year.
Because of construction and renovation going on in the north end of C Deck, Ohio Stadium accommodate only about 76,000 fans and Athletic Department officials said 63,000 tickets has been sold as of Wednesday.
The game will be played in four 10-minute quarters with a running clock during the second half.
There will be no live kicking, except for extra points and field goals, so the offensive squads will take possession on at the 35 and all punts will be fair caught. Fields and Baldwin will wear black jerseys, signifying they are “off limits” from full-speed hits.
