NFL draft: Browns, Bengals, Buckeyes roundup

COLUMBUS – Nine former Ohio State players were selected during the 2019 NFL draft, which concluded Saturday in Nashville, including one who will be playing his pro football in Ohio.

Offensive lineman Michael Jordan was drafted in the fourth round by the Cincinnati Bengals, one of two Buckeye linemen drafted Saturday.

Offensive tackle Isaiah Prince was selected in the sixth round by the Miami Dolphins.

Cornerback Kendall Sheffield went in the fourth round to Atlanta, who took Sheffield with the 111th overall pick.

Mike Weber was drafted by the Cowboys early in the seventh round. Ohio State’s 14th all-time leading rusher was the first Buckeye running back to be drafted since superstar Ezekiel Elliott went No. 4 overall, also to Dallas in 2016.

Defensive end Nick Bosa, quarterback Dwayne Haskins and receiver Parris Campbell were among the Ohio State players selected in the earlier rounds.

The Browns stayed defensive on the final day of the draft, selecting Miami cornerback Sheldrick Redwine and Alabama linebacker Mack Wilson.

General manager John Dorsey used his first four picks on defensive players, looking to add depth and toughness. On Friday, the Browns selected LSU cornerback Greedy Williams and BYU linebacker Sione Takitaki.

The Browns also picked Oklahoma kicker Austin Seibert, the Big 12’s career scoring leader.

With the exception of a fourth-round quarterback, the Bengals’ first draft under coach Zac Taylor was more about upgrading their infrastructure. And there was a distinct emphasis on Taylor’s favorite side of the ball.

The Bengals got two offensive linemen, including Jordan, a run-blocking tight end, a defensive tackle and a linebacker among their first six picks.

The Bengals traded up in the fourth round to select N.C. State quarterback Ryan Finley on Saturday.
