NFL draft: Day 2 Browns/Bengals/Buckeyes roundup

COLUMBUS – Three more former Ohio State Buckeyes were selected during the second and third rounds of the NFL draft Friday in Nashville.

Parris Campbell, who caught a school record 90 passes in 2018, went to the Indianapolis Colts in Round 2, becoming the third Buckeye drafted, along with first-round picks Nick Bosa, who went No. 2 overall to San Francisco, and Dwayne Haskins, taken with the 15th overall pick by Washington.

The Denver Broncos selected All-American defensive tackle Dre’Mont Jones in the third round with the 71st overall pick and the Washington Redskins drafted wide receiver Terry McLaurinh the 76th overall selection. McLaurin will be a familiar presence for Haskins. The receiver caught 35 passes for 701 yards during his senior season.

After sitting back and watching the first round, the Browns got in on the run of cornerbacks in the second round of the NFL draft.

General manager John Dorsey sent picks No. 49 and 144 to Indianapolis, moving up three spots to select LSU’s Greedy Williams, considered the best corner in the powerful SEC, at No. 46. Williams will likely start opposite Denzel Ward, who made the Pro Bowl as a rookie last season.

In the third round, the Browns took BYU linebacker Sione Takitaki.

The Bengals took tight end Drew Sample from Washington in the second round after trading down 10 spots with Denver and filled their biggest need in the third round, getting linebacker Germaine Pratt from N.C. State.
