COLUMBUS – Police say charges have not been filed yet against the suspect in a fatal weekend shooting on the Northeast Side.
Officers found Dean Joaquin Mendiola Peredo, Jr., inside an apartment on Busch Boulevard at approximately 6:22 p.m. Saturday, homicide detectives said.
Mendiola Peredo, 21, was critically injured and died less than an hour later at Riverside Methodist Hospital, police said.
The death was investigated as a homicide and a suspect was identified as detectives questioned the individual as well as witnesses but the suspect is not being charged at this time, police said, and information about the individual was not released.
The case remains under investigation.
This is the 46th homicide of 2017 in Columbus.
