COLUMBUS – Columbus police have not filed charges against a man whose roommate died after the two men got into a fight.
Daniel Brought Jr., and his roommate fought Saturday evening, hours before officers called to their E. Mound Street home on a report of a man who wasn’t breathing found Brought unconscious but not suffering from any apparent injuries, said Sgt. Jeff Strayer of the Homicide Unit. Brought, 30, was pronounced dead at the scene by Columbus paramedics.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Brought and his roommate had gotten into a fight before Brought was found but it was not confirmed how the altercation directly led to his death so no charges had been filed against the roommate, whose identity was withheld by police while the investigation continued to determine if any charges would be filed, Strayer said.
This is the 37th homicide in Columbus in 2018.
