No suspects in 3 weekend homicides

COLUMBUS – Columbus homicide detectives had identified no suspects in a series of weekend murders that left three men dead, including a security guard at a Northeast Side bar and a man gunned down in his own doorway.

Nekoda Leftenant was found lying in the doorway of an apartment at 1481 W. Rich Street approximately 1:30 a.m. Saturday, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound, said Sgt. Jeff Strayer of the Homicide unit. Leftenant was pronounced dead at the scene.

Strayer says the preliminary investigation revealed that Leftenant, 59, answered a knock at his door and was shot by an unknown assailant.

Shawn Lee Patilla was found, suffering from a gunshot wound, in the middle of the Oakland Park Bar & Grill, 1427 Oakland Park Avenue, at approximately 11:34 p.m. Sunday night, Strayer said. Patilla, 49, was a security guard at the bar where there had been a disturbance earlier in the evening, though Strayer says police don‘t know if the two events were related.

Patilla died just after midnight Monday at Grant Medical Center, Strayer said.

The identity of a man who was found shot to death in the 5300 block of Brayton Avenue at approximately 8:29 p.m. Sunday still had not been determined by early Monday morning, said Sgt. Stanley Latta.
