COLUMBUS, Ohio – The North Side Fix is starting to take shape.
The new US 23 bridge over I-270 (above) is ready for traffic and will be open Friday morning, weather permitting, according to officials with the Ohio Department of Transportation.

Crews are building the new bridge in thirds so that they can maintain traffic in both directions on US 23 during construction. By moving traffic over to the west, ODOT says the contractor can demolish and rebuild the eastern portion.
Overnight Thursday, there will be lane restrictions while crews shift southbound US 23 traffic onto the new portion of the bridge. After southbound traffic is moved, US 23 northbound will shift over to where the southbound lanes are now.

Flint Road was closed at US 23 Wednesday morning so crews could pour the deck for the new bridge over the trench that carries northbound thru traffic along US 23. The contractor finished the work ahead of schedule and the road re-opened before noon.
Pouring just half of the bridge deck took about 20 trucks of concrete. The construction team is building the bridge half at a time so that traffic can be maintained on Flint Road at US 23.
