COLUMBUS (AP) — An Ohio board has suspended two nurses’ licenses for at least one year in disciplinary cases for colleagues of a Mount Carmel Health System doctor now charged with murder.
The nurses were accused of not meeting care standards while working in the Columbus-area hospital.
Their cases involved allegations that patients died after being given excessive painkillers ordered by Dr. William Husel (above).
An administrative hearing examiner concluded the nurses should’ve known the large doses of fentanyl and other drugs were potentially harmful.
The nurses say the doses seemed acceptable at the time and they relied on Husel’s expertise.
Only Husel was criminally charged. He has pleaded not guilty
