NW Side bridge reopens after accident

COLUMBUS – The morning commute was back to normal in the Dublin area Thursday after two days of disruptions caused by a fatal accident.

The ramp from U.S. 33 eastbound to northbound I-270 reopened Wednesday in Dublin.

It was closed Monday after a tanker crashed and burned on the bridge, leaving the driver dead.

Originally the Ohio Department of Transportation thought it would take most of Wednesday and Wednesday night to make repairs to the bridge but officials say the repair work went ahead of schedule and the bridge reopened in time for the end of the Wednesday afternoon rush hour.

Drivers will find there is just one lane of traffic, not two, on the ramp and that will remain the configuration for the next few months because ODOT officials say permanent repairs to the ramp and bridge cannot be made until the weather warms up.
