COLUMBUS – Crew SC dropped to fourth in the MLS Eastern Conference standings with just two games left in the regular season after dropping a 2-1 decision to the New York Red Bulls Saturday night.
Columbus jumped out to a quick lead in the 9th minute on Justin Meram’s redirected goal.
The Red Bulls wasted little time in finding the equalizer, as Lloyd Sam sent the home fans into a frenzy with a 13th minute strike.
Less than ten minutes later New York would net the go-ahead goal, signaling the familiar 2-1 score line that has decided all three matches between these two sides.
Crew SC enters a bye week before heading north to take on Toronto FC in the final leg of the 2015 Trillium Cup rivalry series at BMO Field on Oct. 17 (2:00 p.m./Time Warner Cable SportsChannel).
