HARRISON, N.J. (AP) — Alexander Ring scored and NYCFC handed the Columbus Crew SC their first loss of the season with a 1-0 victory.
Ring’s goal in the 59th minute came after Heber intercepted a poor clearance attempt by the Crew.
The goal, which snapped an 175-minute scoreless streak, was Ring’s first of the year.
It was just the second win of the regular city for NYCFC, playing a home game at Red Bull Arena.
The Crew faces in-state rival FC Cincinnati at Nippert Stadium Saturday (7:30 p.m./SportsTime).
