COLUMBUS – Unemployment in central Ohio ticked downward in October to 3.6 percent, matching the 14-year low reached in August, according to data released by the state Tuesday.

The jobless rate fell from September’s 3.7 percent and matched the rate set in July of 2001, according to data released by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.
Unemployment in the 10-county Columbus metropolitan area was lowest in Delaware County (3.1) and highest in Perry County (5.6). Unemployment in Columbus and Franklin County was 3.6, lowest among Ohio’s major metropolitan areas. Cleveland’s 4.7 percent was highest.
The statewide unemployment rate last month was 4.4 and data indicated the state had regained all the jobs lost during the recession, but was short of the high-water mark set in 2000.
US unemployment in October was 5.0 percent.
