COLUMBUS – Columbus police say an officer who was shot during a drug raid in South Linden Friday afternoon is expected to fully recover.
Officer Robert Lagore — a 23-year-veteran assigned to the assigned to Narcotics Bureau — was one of the officers who were attempting to make a tactical entry into a home in the 1500 block of Cordell Avenue at 12:55 p.m. to serve a search warrant on behalf of Whitehall police, division spokesman Sgt. Dean Worthington said.
Shortly after the officers entered the home, Worthington says someone fired multiple shots, one of them hitting Lagore in the foot. He was taken to Grant Medical Center in stable condition.
Officers did not return fire and detained the suspect as well as four other people inside the home for questioning.
No charges were immediately filed, and no other names have been released.
An investigation into the shooting is ongoing, Worthington said.
