COLUMBUS – Three Columbus police officers were cleared of wrongdoing in the fatal shooting of a suspect following a triple murder on the Hilltop in 2015.
Officers Eric Clouse, Lincoln Green and Jack Snyder were found to be within the Columbus Division of Police’s policy on the use of firearms, division spokesman Sgt. Dean Worthington said.
The three were among officers who responded to a reported shooting at 98 South Terrace Avenue just after 5:00 p.m. on Nov. 23, 2015, and confronted Barry Kirk as Kirk ran from the house where four people had been shot, including two children, one of whom died, Worthington said.
The officers exchanged gunfire with Kirk after a short chase and Kirk was shot several times. He later died at Mt. Carmel West Hospital, police said at the time of the incident
After the shootout with Kirk, spo0kesman Sgt. Rich Weiner says the officers went inside the home and found John Anderson II, 31, his 30-year-old wife Christina Anderson and their son, seven-year-old Landon. All had been shot to death.
The family’s 12-year-old daughter, whose name was not released, was taken to Nationwide Children’s Hospital.
Weiner said a handgun was recovered near where Kirk was shot.
