COLUMBUS – Police were looking for whoever opened fire on officers on the Northeast Side late Wednesday night.

Officers responding to a report of shots being fired in the area of the 1100 block of Windsor Avenue at 11:53 p.m. found themselves targeted by an unknown suspect, according to investigators with the division’s Assault Unit.
No one was injured, police said
The group of about a half dozen officers found two apartments and several vehicles that had been struck by gunfire and, while waiting for assault unit detectives to respond to the scene to investigate, someone opened fire on the officers using what investigators described as a high-caliber firearm.
