Ohio Democrats focus on unity

CINCINNATI (AP) — Ohio’s Democrats insist they are unified even as leaked emails open new rifts in their national party as the Philadelphia convention gets underway.

Bernie Sanders delegate Michael Skindell of suburban Cleveland says he is going to support the party’s nominee, although the emails underscore that more “accountabilities” are needed to ensure fairness.

Hillary Clinton backer and superdelegate Joceyln Bucaro of Butler County says supporters of both campaigns have already begun working together in the Ohio ground game for November.

After scars from the bitter Republican primaries surfaced last week in Cleveland, Democrats hoped to have a unified front. Rep. Joyce Beatty of Columbus proclaimed Monday: “We’re stronger together!”

Wikileaks posted emails showing signs that the Democratic National Committee favored Clinton over Sanders during the tough primary season.
