Ohio deputy shot

DEERFIELD TOWNSHIP – An overnight manhunt for a suspect in the shooting of a southwest Ohio sheriff’s deputy and another person ended early Friday when the man was arrested.

Mohammed Abdou Laghaoui, 19, was found at about 5:00 a.m. not far from the shooting scene after a seven-hour manhunt, Lt. John Faine of the Warren County Sheriff’s Office said.

No further information about how the suspect was apprehended was immediately available.

Faine said the female deputy, who was shot while responding to a report of a domestic situation at an apartment complex at 8525 Jonathan lane, Maineville, at about 9:45 p.m. Thursday, has been treated and released from a hospital. A

A man who was also shot was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The names of the two were not immediately released.

Authorities issued a shelter-in-place order for residents in Deerfield Township, which is about 25 miles northeast of Cincinnati, and a Blue Alert for several southwestern Ohio counties.

Blue Alerts are issued when a law enforcement officer has been killed or injured by a suspect who remains at large. That alert was canceled as well.
