OSU helps wounded vets

Wounded military service members from across the country are getting specialized care at the new Military Medicine Program at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and College of Medicine.

A team of advanced reconstructive surgeons, military specialists and rehabilitation experts address complicated combat injuries and uniquely debilitating wounds that can require a lifetime of physical and mental care.

Reconstructive surgeons, peripheral nerve surgeons, microsurgeons, neuroplastic surgeons, and other specialists are using cutting-edge techniques to advance relief of nerve pain through innovative reconstruction and rewiring of nerves, develop a new procedure to improve prosthetics, and improve rehabilitation and post-treatment therapy.

Research grants from the U.S. Department of Defense and other federal agencies are helping to support the program, which is also designed to educate health care providers on how to treat complex combat injuries.
