Ohio is Ebola-free

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ebola-watch is over and Ohio has been given a clean bill of health.

The Department of Health announced Wednesday morning that no more Ohioans are being monitored for symptoms. Also, the last of three people who were being quarantined after coming into contact with a Dallas nurse who contracted the virus are no longer being restricted.

Tuesday marked the end of the 21-day watch period for the last few dozen people being monitored in Ohio because of potential contact with Amber Vinson. At one point, officials were monitoring more than 160 people, and three were quarantined.

Vinson was diagnosed with the virus in Texas after visiting Akron and Cleveland. She was released from a hospital last week after tests showed she’s virus-free.

Officials continue to monitor Ohioans returning from West African countries that have Ebola outbreaks. About 30 people were being monitored under those new protocols as of late last week.
