COLUMBUS — Ohio has experienced a record high number of daily cases of the coronavirus.
The 1,840 cases reported Friday is the most in a day since July.
The number of probable and confirmed cases is also well above the 21-day average of 1,119 cases.

The jump comes in a week when Republican Gov. Mike DeWine has issued calls for Ohioans to continue following safety measures such as mask wearing and social distancing.
He repeated his warning Friday during a visit to northwestern Ohio.
He said the biggest threat to Ohio’s economy is people not wearing masks.
“We can continue to try to improve our economy and get more people back to work, but the only way we can do that is to keep the virus down. We’ve got to hang in there. We’re Ohioans. We can do this,” he said in a tweet from his office.
