Ohio rolls out online tool to look up vaccine locations

COLUMBUS — The state is rolling out an online tool allowing residents to look up locations where the coronavirus vaccine is available.

The news comes as Ohio is set to begin offering vaccines to people 80 years old and up beginning Tuesday.

Governor Mike DeWine said Thursday that the tool on the state coronavirus website will allow Ohioans to check by county and ZIP code beginning Friday.

Information on vaccinations, data, advice for parents and job seekers, and more

DeWine says all local health departments should also have the information on their websites Friday.

Columbus Public Health and Franklin County Public Health will both receive limited doses of vaccine.

“We were so pleased to see that 72 providers in Columbus and Franklin County are getting vaccine next week. The challenge continues to be the quantity of available vaccine and it is important to note that each provider will only receive a limited number each week,” Franklin County Health Commissioner Joe Mazzola said.

Columbus Public Health, which oversees the cities of Columbus and Worthington, will only have 600 doses and Franklin County,  whose jurisdiction includes the remainder if the county, will have only 500 doses to distribute next week, officials said.

The Health Department says more than 338,000 Ohioans have received at least one dose of the coronavirus vaccine to date.

Delaware County providers will each get 100 doses next week and officials are asking residents not to register multiple times with multiple providers and not to show up at these locations for a vaccination without contacting the facility first.

Union County officials expect to receive between 100 and 500 doses a week for the next several weeks to inoculate the county’s 7,000 older residents.
