COLUMBUS – The unemployment rate in Ohio remained unchanged in June at 3.9% despite widespread job losses reported by Ohio employers.

The state shed 11,300 jobs last month after seven consecutive months of gains, according to data released Friday by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.
The number of Ohioans who reported they were working declined from a revised 5.48 million in May to 5.47 million.
The largest number of job losses came in state government, manufacturing, leisure and hospitality, and trade, transportation and utilities.
The state has added almost 96,000 jobs in the last year, powered mostly by gains in the service sector, and the jobless rate has dropped from 5.3% in June 2021.
The U.S. unemployment rate for June was 3.6%, also unchanged from May, and down from 5.9% in June 2021.
