COLUMBUS – Ohioans are paying some of the lowest average premiums in the nation for auto and homeowners insurance, according to the state’s Insurance Director.
The average cost of the combined premiums in Ohio is $551 below the national average.
“We are fortunate in Ohio to have one of the most dynamic and competitive insurance markets in the country. Consumers benefit by having many options to choose from at different price points,” Department of Insurance Director Jillian Froment said.
According to the National Association of Insurance Commissioners, the average of $850 per year for homeowners insurance is the ninth-lowest in the nation and the $727 paid for the average auto insurance policy is 14th lowest.
The respective national averages are $1,192 and $936.
