COLUMBUS – A man killed in an apparent machete attack in a Southeast Side apartment complex was one of two homicides reported in Columbus last Friday.
Officers and Columbus paramedics were called at 7:51 a.m. to the 3700 block of Noam Court, at the Kimberly Meadows Apartments off Courtright Road after a 911 call during which a man told dispatchers that he had been asleep in an apartment and woke to find a man with a machete trying to cut him, according to a report in The Columbus Dispatch.
The caller said he fled the apartment after being cut on the wrist and did not know the area where he was. Officers found him knocking on doors and calling for help, said Homicide Unit Sgt. Stanley Latta. The caller was taken to Mount Carmel East Hospital for treatment.
First responders found blood on a nearby door and a dead man inside the apartment, Latta said.
