COLUMBUS – Police say one man was killed and another hospitalized in a shootout on a Northeast Side street Thursday afternoon.
UPDATE: Daryll Gavin succumbed to his injuries on Sept. 8 at approximately 8:09 p.m. at O.S.U. Wexner Medical Center, the 93rd homicide victim of 2017 in Columbus.
UPDATE: This article has been revised to reflect that police misidentified Daryll Gavin as his brother, Jacques, in earlier releases.

Detectives says the Theodore Stokes and Daryll Gavin were at a home in the 2300 block of Republic Ave, near Joyce Avenue, in North Linden at approximately 1:30 p.m. when the suspects pulled up in a green minivan and the men exchanged gunfire, Homicide Unit Sgt. Dave Sicilian said.
Officers responding to the scene found the men lying on the porch of a home about a block away, near Traymore Place, suffering from gunshot wounds, Sicilian said.
Stokes, 20, died of his injuries at 4:15 p.m. at Grant Medical Center while Gavin, 21, was taken to O.S.U. Wexner Medical Center.
The minivan was recovered a short time later not far from the scene of the shooting but Sicilian did not name any suspects or motive.
The investigation continues.
This is the 87th homicide of the year in Columbus.
