COLUMBUS – A man suspected of stabbing a woman during a domestic dispute on the West Side was shot by Columbus police officers.

Officers responded to a report that a man had stabbed a woman during a domestic violence call in the 500 block of Ryan Avenue at 10:41 p.m., spokesman Sgt. Dean Worthington said.
When they arrived, they encountered Virgil Wolford, who was armed with a shotgun. Worthington says Officers Jeffrey Kracht and Harry Dorsey opened fire, hitting Wolford an undetermined number of times.
Wolford, 59, had allegedly stabbed his domestic partner, whose name was not released.
Both Wolford and the stabbing victim are expected to survive their injuries, Worthington said.
The officers were not injured, he said.
Kracht is an 18-year veteran of the division. Dorsey is a six-year veteran, Worthington said
This is the sixth police involved shooting in Columbus in 2018.
