COLUMBUS, Ohio – A run in the bottom of the eighth inning snapped a six-game losing streak for the Clippers as they held to beat the Toledo Mud Hens 1-0 Wednesday at Huntington Park.
Kyle Crockett (1-1) got the win after relieving Jhoulys Chacin who had to settle for a no-decision after giving up five hits and striking out eight hitters in seven innings of work. Giovanni Soto retired the last two hitters for his second save.
With the game scoreless after 7-1/2 innings, Brett Hayes led off the bottom of the eighth with double to left field, moved to third base on Audy Ciriaco’s sacrifice bunt and scored on a sac fly by Francisco Lindor.
