One suspect jailed, one at large in weekend shooting

COLUMBUS – An 18-year-old man is in jail and police are still looking for a 19-year-old in connection with the shooting death of a man in an East Side apartment early Saturday.

Homicide detectives filed charges on Tykeim Maurice Mayes and Paris Rai’Shannon Royal John Pope III, 19, who was found shot to death in an apartment at 5481 E. Livingston Avenue just after 6:40 a.m. Saturday, Homicide Unit Sgt. Jeffrey Strayer said.

Mayes, 18, who has been charged with complicity to commit murder, was already in custody on a weapons charge but Strayer says Royal’s whereabouts are unknown

Royal, 19, has been charged with murder.
