COLUMBUS – Ohio drivers will soon have one less line to stand in.
By the middle of July, motorists will be able to renew driver’s licenses, take written driver’s exams and transfer vehicle titles online.

Starting Monday, June 27, drivers can log onto BMV.Ohio.Gov and click on the “DL/ID Renewal” link where they will have to upload a current driver’s license or state ID, or a photograph, and one document from the Bureau of Motor Vehicles acceptable document list.
Once approved, the motorist will receive their license in the mail.
Beginning July 11, new drivers applying for a temporary permit will be able to take the written portion of the driving test online and vehicle owners can transfer a title at the website.
The BMV has been offering more of its services online to reduce the amount of time Ohioans spend waiting at deputy registrars’ offices.
Since 2021, more than 2 million visits to the BMV have been avoided since 2021 because of online alternatives, Lt. Governor Jon Husted said.
