COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) – Ohio State University has announced a 10-year, $17.1 million sponsorship agreement with Nationwide Insurance.
The university says the expanded partnership, announced Wednesday, will provide discounts for faculty, staff, students and alumni.
Other benefits for the university include 40 internships every year for OSU students, a five-year extension of Nationwide’s current commitment to underwrite an OSU program called the Risk Institute, and a commitment to create an investment fund to support a variety of programs.
“This expanded partnership between Ohio State and Nationwide directly supports the university’s academic mission by creating valuable student internships, co-funding key programs and supporting a risk management center at our Fisher College of Business,” interim OSU President Joseph Alutto said.
The college’s Risk Institute researches the impact of a wide range of risks on business with an eye toward helping businesses lessen their vulnerability and make the most of opportunities created by setbacks.
The partnership builds on the company’s “collective impact on the community,” Nationwide President Mark Pizzi said.
OSU said the partnership with the Columbus-based insurance giant formalizes a 30-year relationship.
