COLUMBUS – Ohio State University police say they are acting through “an abundance of caution in advising people on campus Tuesday to be watchful.
The university Department of Public Safety was made aware Monday of an anonymous threat of violence to the campus community for Tuesday, according to a safety bulletin.
The threat was posted on an online online gaming site claimed, “If you live in the Ohio State University, I warn you. Tomorrow at 15 hours [3:00 p.m.], I will kill students and teachers with guns. I have guns and explosives in my room, which I will use,” according to the department website.
OSU police say they are working with other law enforcement agencies to investigate it and “take all appropriate measures to keep the campus safe.“
Authorities ask students, faculty, staff and even visitors to be observant and aware and, if they “see something, say something.”
Any suspicious behavior should be reported to OSU Police at 614-292-2121.
