Parent: Close Reynoldsburg schools during strike

REYNOLDSBURG, Ohio (AP) – The parent of a student in the Reynoldsburg City Schools is suing to try to close schools until a week-old strike is settled.

The lawsuit asks a judge to compel school officials to shutter the buildings in the district.

The Columbus Dispatch reports that lawyer Tom Drabick said in court documents that the school board and district leaders have not provided a safe and secure educational environment since teachers went out on strike.

Drabick cited a fight at the high school, students running through the halls and lack of adult supervision. He called it “near-riot conditions.”

A district spokeswoman had no immediate comment on the lawsuit.
