Passenger’s gun found in bag

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) – Authorities say an unloaded gun was found in the carry-on luggage of a Florida-bound passenger flying out of Port Columbus International Airport Wednesday.

Agents found the handgun Wednesday morning in the luggage of a passenger traveling from Columbus to Fort Lauderdale, according to a statement from a Transportation Security Administration spokesman.

The spokesman says the passenger was cited for criminal trespassing. The passenger’s name was not released.

The TSA says travelers who bring such firearms to security checkpoints can face criminal and civil penalties and potentially thousands of dollars in fines.
