COLUMBUS – Pelotonia celebrates 10 years of pedaling through the roads and byways of central Ohio to support cancer research this weekend.

Pelotonia was established in 2008 and has raised over $157 million to fund innovative cancer research at Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center, including research to help predict tumor aggressiveness and survival based on the unique characteristics of their tumors.
Studies found that survival among patients with a specific biomarker more than doubled when treated with specific chemotherapy and radiation.
In honor of its 10th anniversary, the ride’s route options this year have expanded from six to 10:
Columbus to Pickerington (25 miles)
Granville to New Albany (35 miles)
Columbus to New Albany (45 miles)
New Albany to Gambier (55 miles)
Pickerington to Gambier (75 miles)
Columbus to Gambier (100 miles)
New Albany to Gambier, Gambier to New Albany (135 miles, 2-day ride)
Pickerington to Gambier, Gambier to New Albany (155 miles, 2-day ride)
Columbus to Gambier, Gambier to New Albany (180 miles, 2-day ride)
Columbus to Gambier, Gambier to New Albany (200 miles, 2-day ride)
Opening ceremonies begin at 3:00 p.m. Friday at McFerson Commons and North Bank Park in the Arena District.
Pelotonia has funded and awarded 108 idea grants and 440 fellowships, as well as support for 87 senior scientists and three statewide initiatives.
