PITTSBURGH (AP) — Connor Joe had three hits and reached base four times to back a strong start by Mitch Keller and lead the Pittsburgh Pirates over the Reds 4-2 for their fifth straight win.

At 14-7, the Pirates are off to their best start since 2002.

Cincinnati has lost four in a row and is 5-12 since opening the season by winning two of three from the Pirates.

Acquired from Colorado in an offseason trade, Joe went 3 for 3 with a walk and raising his batting average to .377.

Guardians and Clippers rained out

The series opener between the Guardians and Miami Marlins scheduled for Friday night was postponed by wet weather.

The tarp was placed on the field around 5 p.m., bringing an early end to Cleveland’s batting practice and the threat of rain throughout the night forced the game to be called around 6:30 p.m.

The two teams will play a doubleheader Saturday.

The fourth game of a six-game series between the Clippers and Toledo Mud Hens at Huntington Park was also postponed due to rain

The teams will play a doubleheader starting at 4:15 p.m. Saturday.
