Police arrest smash-and-grab jewelry thieves

COLUMBUS – Police quickly rounded up all three suspects in a daring smash-and-grab jewelry holdup near Easton Tuesday morning.

The three men ran into Jared Jewelers, l 4159 Morse Crossing, at approximately 11:15 am. and ordered all occupants inside the store to the ground while the suspects smashed glass counters and took a large amount of jewelry before fleeing the business and driving away in a gray Buick, police said.

Employees contacted police and provided a description of the vehicle and a partial license plate number of the vehicle, a gray Buick, as the suspects fled the parking lot.

The vehicle was almost immediately observed leaving the area by police and the suspects jumped out and ran away.

One of the suspects was arrested a short time later by Lt. Tammy Phillips with the Mifflin Township Police Department while the other two suspects were arrested by Columbus police and Franklin County Sheriff’s deputies.

It’s believed all of the stolen items were recovered, police said.

Michael Smith and Ronald Morris, both 26, and Khalil Howard, 23, all from Cleveland, were charged with aggravated robbery and kidnapping.

The investigation continues.
