Lamar Reynolds, 36, has been charged with murder in the shooting death of Damon Jenkins outside the Livingston Market, 1619 E. Livingston Avenue, said Sgt. Stanley Latta of the Homicide unit.

Officers responding to a report of a man shot at approximately 1:38 p.m. found Jenkins, who was taken to Grant Medical Center where he died about 30 minutes later, Latta said.

Latta says investigators determine that an altercation had taken place immediately before the shots were fired inside or near the Totally Different Barbershop.

The exact motive behind the shooting is unknown and Latta says the case remains under investigation.

This is the 98th homicide of 2017 in Columbus.
