COLUMBUS – Police had not filed any charges by late Tuesday morning in a fatal shooting at an East Side tobacco outlet store.
Investigators think Oscar Louis Morgan Jr. was drunk when he engaged in several physical confrontations with customers and employees inside the Outlet Smoke Shop Market, 6091 McNaughten Center, shortly before 12:59 a.m. and escalated the confrontations to the point where one of the employees felt the need to fire a weapon, fatally wounding Morgan, Homicide Unit Sgt. Jeff Strayer said.
Columbus paramedics pronounced Morgan, 24, dead at the scene, Strayer said.
Strayer says detectives are evaluating video evidence and continuing to investigate the incident but no charges had been filed.
Additional witnesses may have been in the area at the time of this incident and are asked to contact the Columbus Police Homicide Unit at 614-645-4730 or Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at 614-461-TIPS.
