NEWARK – Newark police are investigating two possible cases of strangers trying to lure children into vehicles.
The first incident happened on Sept. 9 at about 3:35 p.m., when officers responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle in the 500 block of Mt. Vernon Road where a white man attempted to have a conversation with a female juvenile, Sgt. Doug Wells said.
The girl moved to safety and was not harmed.
The vehicle was described as a white van with no additional information, Wells said.
At about 6:50 a.m. Tuesday, officers got a report that a white man in a white van approached a female juvenile near Mill and Washington streets, Wells said.
The girl was not harmed and made it to safety.
At this point in the investigation, Wells says police have not determined if the men or the vehicles were the same.
