COLUMBUS – Police are treating the death of a woman whose body was found in a vacant duplex on the Hilltop Saturday as a homicide.
UPDATE (2/12/18 10:39 a.m.): The victim’s identity has been confirmed as Ashley Lynn Hamilton, 27. No other information is being released as police say doing so could jeopardize the investigation.
Officers and detectives told that there may be a dead body inside of the abandoned home at 576 S. Oakley Avenue entered the duplex at approximately 11:32 a.m. who appeared to be the victim of a homicide, Sgt. Dave Sicilian of the Homicide Unit said.
The investigation continues and Sicilian says detectives are in the process of identifying the victim and locating next of kin.
This is the 10th homicide of the year in Columbus.
